Like most of you, I am continually evaluating and updating my response to COVID-19. I think it is important to share my reasoning so I can deliver the best care for all my patients.
Like most non-hospital providers, I have very limited supply of masks, gloves and other protective equipment. I am also not equipped in my office to appropriately care for a known or suspected COVID-19 patient.
We also need to be cognizant that many of the patients in my office have cancer and other chronic diseases that put them at higher risk. Unfortunately, I have no way to effectively isolate patients, and must be concerned for the safety of ALL patients.
